Physically, FORMELŽ insulation is tough and extremely resistant to abrasion. It retains these characteristics to a marked degree regardless of the environment. These and its other properties, outlined below, allow the use of FORMELŽ where mechanical handling and abuse may be severe and where class 105 is adequate.
FORMELŽ has many outstanding properites such as excellent compatibility with transformer oils and of any film insulation, it comes closest to a universal type of magnet wire insulation for its thermal class.
Nexans Magnet Wire's FORMELŽ magnet wire is recommended for applications requiring a Class 105 insulating material. It meets the requirements of NEMA Specifications MW 15-A, 15-C, 18-A and 18-C.
Ž Registered trade mark of Nexans Magnet Wire Inc.
It has both good dielectric strength and heat shock resistance. A thick coating is possible without sacrificing its properties.
FORMELŽ is compatible with many varnishes, waxes, impregnating and potting compounds. It has excellent resistence to transformer oils and moisture in the presence of transformer oils.
This product tends to solvent craze (polar solvents) but it is self-healing.
The insulation is difficult to strip from wire; it has good adherence, and it is capable of being flattened for specific applications.
Consult MSDS for handling and safety information.
